2015 Events

The following are the forthcoming events in which the Clan will be involved or has been invited. For further information contact the Secretary.

 

17th April 2015 - 7pm to 10.30pm Association of Highland Clans and Societies (AHCS). Social Meeting and Discusssion on “Septs – Are we being honest or greedy?”

The Windsor Room, Glenmoriston Town House Hotel, Inverness, IV2 4SF  

 

18th April 2015 - Battle of Culloden commemoration at the Battlefield where Chief Hector will lay a wreath on behalf of Clan

 

16th May 2015 - Committee Meeting

 

4th July 2015 - The Luss Highland  Gathering. We are invited to join the Colquhouns in a Clan march, and a barbecue afterwards

    

18th July 2015 - Inverness Highland Games. AHCS will have a marquee courtesy of Highland Council. We intend to have a table in the Clan tent

 

18th July 2015 - Social Event and AGM of the AHCS

 

14th and 15th August 2015 - International Clan Gathering

 

15th August 2015 - Annual General Meeting


13th November 2015 This year we will mark the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Sherrifmuir (13th November 1715)  

The plan is to rally at the Sherrifmuir Inn for 13.30  We will be bussed down to the Battlefield, a matter of a mile or so, ready to commemorate at 14.00.  We will gather round the two cairns by the roadside (MacRae and '45 Association) which are close to each other.  Clan MacRae will hold a short ceremony and lay a wreath, followed by the 1745 Association's ceremony and wreath laying.  We will then march together along the pathway to the Gathering Stone on top of the wooded moor where AHCS will have a short ceremony and lay a wreath   This walk is up a rising path, it is not steep but rough and wet in places, those attending should wear appropriate footwear and clothing,the walk takes about 10 minutes. 

Any of you who attend are invited to represent your Clan and lay a wreath in commemoration, please let me know if you intend to do this.  We will also remember the other actions which took place on the same day at Preston and the seige of Inverness.
