MacAulay Dance

The following are instructions for a dance in honour of Everett (Mac) McAulay on his birthday and his niece Carol Young

Try it ..you'll like it!

3 couple Reel, Jig or Strathspey - (not too fast!) Written by © Diana Shipman August 2002 3 cpl only version:

1-8 CROSSOVER REEL (touch hands with partner when meet):
1st woman passes in front of her partner -
1st cpl dance into 2nd place on partner's side of dance-
2s out and up, 3s in for mirror reels on the sides (left shoulder reel on man's side and right shoulder reel on woman's side)
9-16 CROSSOVER REEL (touch hands with partner when meet):
1st woman passes in front of her partner -
1st cpl dance into 2nd place own sides - 2s out and up, 3 s in for mirror reels on the sides (left shoulder reel on man's side and right shoulder reel on woman's side)
17-24 all three cpls set, back to back, set (but 1st woman finish facing out - she drops hands with 2nd woman on last setting step)
25-32 1s chase into 2nd place (wrong sides) as 2s step up then chase into 3rd place back to own sides and all set (getting into position to repeat) 3 cpls in 4 cpl set:
25-32 1s chase into 2nd place wrong sides as 2s step up and turn RH 1½ times to own sides ready to repeat.
