Amazing Grace

On April 8th in 1748, after weeks of surviving severe storms and perilous conditions at sea, John Newton anchored his ship in Lough Swilly in Buncrana, Ireland. From this moment the slave trader’s life began to change as he came to realize that God’s grace could save even a ‘wretch’ like him. Though it took him years to transform to a clergyman and abolitionist that fateful day lived on in the hymn he wrote:

Amazing Grace.
