This weekend is a big weekend for the USA and Canada with Canada Day on 1 July and USA Independence Day on 4 July! Fireworks will fill the skies as both countries celebrate the birth of their nations.
Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the British North America Act, 1867, when the three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into a single dominion within the British Empire called Canada.
Independence Day, also called Fourth of July or July 4th, commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. While the Congress had voted in favour of independence from Great Britain on July 2, process of revising the Declaration of Independence didn’t occur until two days later.
