Imbolc (pronounced IM-bolg) marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a Gaelic Pagan festival traditionally honoring the Celtic goddess Brigid which is why it is also known as St. Brigid’s Day. The word Imbolc comes from the Old Irish meaning “in the belly” referring to pregnant ewes as the birth of new lambs was a symbol spring was on it’s way.
