Today is the Celtic Festival Celebrating the Spring Equinox

Ostara is the Celtic festival which celebrates the spring equinox. The word Ostara comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess name, Eostre. Eostre represented spring and new beginnings. Egg races, egg hunts, egg eating, and egg painting are also traditional activities at this time of year. Ostara occurs today, March 20, 2023.

This holiday is the second of three spring celebrations (the midpoint between Imbolc and Beltane), during which light and darkness are again in balance, with light on the rise. It is a time of new beginnings and of life emerging further from the grips of winter.
