Beltane

Today, Beltane, is the Gaelic May Day festival marking the start of summer. At the halfway point between the spring equinox and summer solstice it was historically observed in Ireland, Scotland and Isle of Man. In Irish mythology bonfires were utilized in rituals to protect cattle, people and crops. When you are in County Donegal for the gathering visit the Beltany Stone Circle. It is a Bronze Age stone circle made up of 64 stones once used in ancient rituals and ceremonies. Who knows, touch one and you may just find yourself transported through time!
